Challenge
Gloucester City Public Schools was considered a “low performing” district under the adequate yearly progress standards of the federal No Child Left Behind act. District superintendent, Dr. Mary Stansky, wanted to improve student performance – particularly in math.
SMART Solution
District math facilitator, Tony Trongone used SMART’s Notebook software to create math lessons that were posted the district’s server, creating a unified district-wide curriculum. It also gave all teachers access to lessons to deliver to their students using their SMART Board interactive whiteboards.
Results
Math scores in the district’s middle school have also improved by 16 percentage points as a result of using SMART Board interactive whiteboards and Notebook lesson activities.
