The Effects of the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard on High School Students with Special Needs in a Functional Mathematics Class

Meredith Zirkle, who received her Master of Education degree from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, is a math teacher at Spotswood High School in Virginia. Her research project with the SMART Board interactive whiteboard investigated its effect on the achievement of 11 students with special needs in a functional mathematics class. The project concludes that the SMART Board interactive whiteboard appears to be a positive tool for assisting functional math achievement with these students. Published in 2003.
